22-y/o axed, experienced pro comes in: Birmingham City predicted XI v Rotherham

Birmingham City host Rotherham United in the Championship this weekend.

Birmingham City have another crunch match at St Andrew’s this weekend, with the visit of another struggling South Yorkshire side.

Last weekend it was Sheffield Wednesday and Blues got their first win of the Wayne Rooney era, with Jordan James securing a late 2-1 win.

Tomorrow it’s Rotherham United who visit; the Millers remain without a manager and have won just one of their last 13 in the Championship.

A win for Blues tomorrow could bring them level on points with Bristol City in 12th.

The latest Birmingham City team news

Birmingham City have some persistent injuries right now.

The likes of Kevin Long (calf) and George Hall (hamstring) appear to be the nearest to a return to action, as per Birmingham Live, but both appear to remain a little way off the first-team.

Little is known about Keshi Anderson (hamstring) who’s missed the last several weeks now, with Tyler Roberts (calf) seemingly in the same boat.

Alfie Chang (knee) remains a long-term absentee for Blues.

How will Wayne Rooney line up this weekend?

That defensive display vs Blackburn Rovers has given Rooney a lot of food for thought.

John Ruddy has come under increasing criticism and especially so after the Blackburn game, with Emanuel Aiwu another who’s failed to impress in recent weeks.

Neil Etheridge is the second-choice goalkeeper but it might require some more poor form from Ruddy before he’s considered for the starting berth.

Meanwhile, the experience Marc Roberts could be chosen over 22-year-old Aiwu.

Elsewhere, James looks set to start nailing down a starting spot, likely alongside Krystian Bielik in front of the Blues defence.

Siriki Dembele should retain his spot having come back into the XI and impressed, with Jay Stansfield likely to continue up front as the no.9.

Here’s how we expect Birmingham City to line up vs Rotherham United tomorrow…
