Birmingham City lost 3-2 at home to Leicester City last night, in what was an exciting game at St Andrew’s.
Birmingham City went toe to toe with the league leaders last night, and Wayne Rooney will surely feel like his side deserved something from the game.
Leicester City took the lead early on but Jordan James scored his first of two goals on the night just minutes after.
The Welsh international scored his second after the break to make the score 3-2, after Stephy Mavididi had scored Leicester’s third after the break, but the game would end 3-2 in favour of the Foxes.
James steals the headlines as he continues his impressive run of form under Rooney. But Siriki Dembele was another player who stood out last night.
Siriki Dembele ‘dangerous’ in Leicester City defeat
The Scot has been a bit hit and miss under Rooney. But his form has steadily increased over the last few weeks as Rooney figures out the best role for him in the XI.
And last night he looked good; Dembele showed his electric dribbling and forward-thinking with 1 key pass, 35 touches, 1 shot on target, and 2 out of 5 dribbles completed (Sofascore), earning himself a 7/10 rating from Birmingham Live.
Journalist Alex Dicken added:
“Dembele offered dancing feet and the occasional bit of substance going forward. He played his part in Blues’ first goal and was the team’s most dangerous attacker whilst on the pitch.”
The 27-year-old has now started the last six games for Birmingham City, having featured 18 times in the Championship this season with five goals and one assist to his name.

More to come from Birmingham City and Dembele?
The cogs certainly seem to be turning now for Rooney and Birmingham Ciy.
After the win at Cardiff City last week, there was a definite change in mood among the supporters going into this one, with everyone seemingly getting behind Rooney and the players for what promised to be a tough evening.
But Blues gave a thorough account of themselves and proved their attacking capabilities against the best team in the division.
James shone, and Dembele played an important role in Birmingham City’s high press and overall attacking game, looking like he caused problems whenever he got on the ball for Blues.
He’s lost his scoring touch in recent weeks. But with Blues growing in confidence and ability, Dembele could soon be back in the goals as Birmingham City look to climb back up the table.
Up next for Rooney’s side is a trip to Plymouth Argyle this weekend.
