Birmingham City suffered another damaging defeat, this time to Watford, on Saturday afternoon.
With Tony Mowbray once again absent for medical reasons, Mark Venus again took charge of Blues for this game.
The hosts were looking to end a run of five games without a win, that has left them perilously close to the relegation zone.
However, they were dealt a setback in their attempts to do that on the stroke of half time.
That came as Emmanuel Dennis fired in an opening goal to make it 1-0 to Watford, giving them the advantage at the break.
One Birmingham City man who did not cover himself in glory for that goal, was Emanuel Aiwu.
Birmingham City man blasted for Watford goal
With the ball played to him on the edge of his own area, Aiwu took too long in possession in a dangerous area.
That allowed Dennis to rob him of possession, before firing into the roof of the Blues’ net to put Watford ahead.
Taking to X to describe that goal from a Birmingham City perspective, Birmingham Mail journalist Alex Dicken wrote:
“Watford lead. Dennis. Awful, awful mistake by Aiwu. #BCFC”
With neither able to find the net again, that goal was enough to deal another costly defeat that leaves Blues outside the relegation zone on goal difference alone.

A moment to forget for Emanuel Aiwu
You do have to have some sympathy for Aiwu when it comes to this mistake he made against Watford.
The centre back has produced some impressive performances in recent weeks that have shown how good he could be for Birmingham City.
Indeed, even in this game, he did do some good things that helped his side out from a defensive perspective.
However, with this game ended in another defeat for Blues, it will ultimately be this moment from it that he will be remembered for.
Unfortunately, this is also not the only moment such as this, where Aiwu has made an error that has hurt Birmingham City in certain games.
That in turn, is one of the things that will not have the helped the club when it comes to their precarious position in the Championship table.
Of course, Aiwu is only currently on loan at Birmingham City from Cremonese until the end of the season.
Blues though, do have the option to make that move permanent in the summer transfer window.
But with moments like this, you feel Birmingham City may be reluctant to do that as things stand.
