Birmingham City are assessing another former England star as they hunt for their next manager.
Birmingham City have just sacked a former England hero in Wayne Rooney following a disastrous spell in charge.
But now Blues could look to hire another with Daily Mail saying that Frank Lampard is being assessed by the Birmingham City owners.
Lampard was most recently manager of Everton where he oversaw 44 games, winning just 12 (27.3% win percentage).
Frank Lampard now being assessed by Birmingham City
Birmingham City appear to have a number of names on their managerial shortlist, including the likes of former bosses Gary Rowett and John Eustace, Steve Cooper, Ralph Hasenhuttl, and Tony Mowbray to name a few.
Lampard though seems like something of a usual suspect; he’s often linked with job openings, especially in the Championship after his previous exploits with Derby County.
Before Rooney, and before Phillip Cocu, Lampard was in charge at Pride Park for a year where he oversaw 57 games winning 24 of them (42.11% win percentage).
He guided the club to the Championship play-off final but lost to Aston Villa before leaving for Chelsea where he eventually boasted a win percentage of 52.4% after spending a year-and-a-half in charge

Lampard would be another lacklustre appointment for Blues
Lampard’s recent managerial record isn’t all that impressive, much like Rooney’s before he took the Blues job.
So this feels like another big name appointment, but not necessarily a smart one, and so Lampard to Birmingham City may be best avoided in favour or someone who has more experience and pedigree as a manager.
Mowbray may be a favoured name among fans given his past experience as a manager and his recent positive showing with Sunderland, whom he guided to a top six finish last season and had the club in 6th at the time of his sacking last month.
The Birmingham City board perhaps showed naivety in appointing Rooney and hopefully they’ll have learned their lesson, and hopefully they’ll do their due diligence before making their next appointment.
They want the players to play a certain brand of ‘no fear’ football and so they need to scour every possible market and not be rushed by the fact that it’s the transfer window or that Blues are in a very dire league position.
Having said that, time of the essence, with the club in need of player additions this month.
