Birmingham City have added to their Under-21s side with the capture of young free agent Sahid Kamara.
The 19-year-old has signed for the Blues following a successful trial period with the club and will now get straight to work with Steve Spooner’s side.
Kamara was previously on the books of League One side Charlton Athletic before his contract expired this summer which left him able to join Birmingham for free.
The English midfielder had risen through the Addicks’ academy, featuring heavily for both the Under-18s and Under-21s before the expiry of his deal in southeast London.
He never made a first team bow for Chalrton, though has tasted senior football whilst on loan away from the club. Towards the end of the last campaign, Kamara spent time with local non-league outfit Corinthian Casuals where he made a handful of first team appearances.

Signing a one-year deal with the Blues, with the option of an additional year should the club see fit, the teenager made his first competitive appearance since officially signing yesterday afternoon, starting and scoring against his former side as Spooner’s squad drew 2-2 away from home to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
His next opportunity to play will come next Monday when the Blues host Millwall Under-21s in their upcoming Professional Development League match.
Of course, Kamara had already pulled on the Birmingham jersey as part of his trial period. He featured against both Ipswich Town and Bristol City for the young Blues, both fixtures ending in victory.
From their opening four fixtures, Spooner’s side have picked up eight points after two wins and two draws. They currently sit third, one point off Sheffield United and Fleetwood Town in joint top, although the former do have a game in hand.
What’s next for Kamara?
Having confirmed the transfer, Birmingham released a short statement on their website:
“He has agreed terms on a one-year deal, with a year’s option, following a successful trial period.
“He will now link up with Spooner’s team on a permanent basis as they continue their Professional Development League campaign.”
The Blues have a fine track record of producing top standard midfield talent in recent years. Jude Bellingham is obviously the pick of the bunch, though his brother Jobe Bellingham and current Birmingham ace Jordan James are also bound to be an inspiration to Kamara.
Here is to hoping he hits the ground running and makes a name for himself at St. Andrews in the near future.
