Birmingham City manager John Eustace was ‘very disappointed’ with the goals his side conceded after losing 2-1 away at Preston North End.
Blues’ took the lead straight after half-time with Fulham loanee Jay Stansfield, who finished off from a pass from Koji Miyoshi to slot home at his near post inside 40 seconds from the restart.
Preston then equalised five minutes later after Krystian Bielik headed in his own jet from a corner after miscommunication with Kevin Long.
The Lilywhites then took the lead in the 67th minute through Milutin Osmajic, with the Montenegrin finishing after some great work from Alan Browne in the middle.
Eustace had praise for the way his side played, but was ultimately disappointed at the way the goals were conceded.
“I thought we were excellent tonight,” Eustace told Birmingham Live.
“We played some fantastic football. We set up differently tonight than we did at Watford. At Watford we had to be more defensive and looked to play in a different style. Tonight we knew we would be able to play football against a good Preston team and dominated with and without the ball.
“I’m obviously very disappointed with the two goals that we conceded. The first one, I think the wind and conditions might have hampered Krystian and Longy. To concede just after scoring was tough to take.”
John Eustace hails Stansfield

Despite losing, Eustace was pleased with the ‘outstanding’ Stansfield.
“He is an outstanding talent.
“We know he can play in a number of positions. He took his goal fantastically well. It was a great move and a great ball from Koji (Miyoshi). It’s something we have been working on. We have good footballers in the team and tonight we showcased that we can actually play football as well.”
