Tony Mowbray has now revealed when Birmingham City starlet George Hall could return to action.
An attacking midfielder, who graduated through the Birmingham academy, George Hall made a sharp rise to prominence last term after making his debut for the club at the back end of the 2021/22 season.
The 19-year-old featured across 30 appearances in the Championship and received praise for his meteoric rise with some even drawing comparisons to academy graduate Jude Bellingham.
After being rated as the hottest prospect at St Andrew’s, Jordan James has since stolen that tag with his impressive performances from midfield while Hall has been made to watch on from the sidelines.
Unfortunately, he hasn’t played a first-team game since August due to a succession of hamstring issues and this has damaged his progress massively.
Hall appeared to be on the mend and looked as though he would make a return to the squad by the end of 2023, however, then-manager Wayne Rooney reported a setback in early December.
Although the teenager has gone through a rough time after suffering four hamstring injuries in the space of seven months, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel following Tony Mowbray’s latest update.

Tony Mowbray reveals when George Hall could return
Mowbray is expected to see the teenage prodigy back in training over the next few weeks.
Speaking last week, the 60-year-old said: “Without knowing exactly, I would suggest another couple of weeks and he might be back on the grass.
“He might be back on the grass with the physio department, or he might be back on the grass with the team, I don’t know. He’s a player that I’m aware of and I look forward to seeing him out there with his boots on.”
Having watched him take the Championship by storm before his injury, Mowbray has every right to feel excited about working with the youngster.
After all, he has developed the likes of Harvey Elliott and Jack Clarke, to name but a few, throughout his career.
Mowbray could develop Hall into a top talent
The conveyor belt of talent being produced by the Birmingham Academy, especially in recent times, is impressive, to say the least.
From the Bellingham brothers to Jordan James and Hall, Mowbray knows that the next star in the making is only around the corner.
And if Hall can rediscover the levels he reached last season, he can become a seriously good talent with the help of his new manager.
The teenager – who doesn’t turn 20 till July – showed glimpses of his quality last term, ranking in the top 13% against his positional peers for successful take-ons and top 20% for touches (att pen), as per FBref.
Hall reached promising levels and under the guidance of Mowbray, he can surpass them and become one of several exciting players at the manager’s disposal.
