Birmingham City have been linked with their first potential signing of the January transfer window.
Birmingham City are yet to make a new signing under new boss Tony Mowbray.
But it looks like the 60-year-old could turn towards former club Sunderland for his first Blues arrival, with reports now stating that he’s keen on a reunion with Alex Pritchard.
Daily Telegraph say that Birmingham City are keen on signing the one-time Spurs youngster, who currently sees his Sunderland contract expire in the summer.
Birmingham City rivalling clubs for Alex Pritchard
Daily Telegraph report that Birmingham City, along with Turkish outfit Sivasspor and MLS side Colorado Rapids, are all keen on signing Pritchard this month.
Sunderland, who currently sit in 7th place of the Championship table compared to Blues in 20th, were apparently open to letting Pritchard leave last summer.
But the 30-year-old remains at the club and in recent weeks he’s come into good form; in total this season, Pritchard has scored one and assisted five more in 22 Championship outings.
Formerly of the likes of Norwich City and Huddersfield Town among others, Pritchard has 187 Championship appearances to his name, with 24 goals and 32 assists in the second tier.

Why a move for Pritchard makes total sense
Pritchard is a hugely popular figure among Sunderland fans and with Mowbray too.
The Birmingham City boss often spoke of his fondness for Pritchard who in recent weeks has reminded Black Cats supporters of his quality in the Championship.
So right now, with Pritchard playing regularly, it might be foolish for Sunderland to let him go.
But Sunderland are determined to bring about younger players for the future and they could make the cut-throat decision to offload Pritchard this month, rather than lose him for free in the summer.
And for Birmingham City, Pritchard would be a huge coup.
Blues need a bit of quality and pedigree in attack; Jay Stansfield may end up leaving this month and so someone with Pritchard’s versatility could help ease that particular blow.
And Pritchard is already familiar with the style of play that Mowbray wants to introduce, so that could help ease the transition for the rest of the players.
All in all, a move for Pritchard looks like a potentially exciting one for Birmingham City.
Blues return to league action with a trip to Stoke City this weekend, after claiming their first win under Mowbray in the FA Cup last time out.
