There remains a lot of talk regarding Jordan James’ future at Birmingham City.
James, 19, is enjoying a standout season with Birmingham City in the Championship, with five goals in 24 league appearances marking his best scoring season for Blues so far.
The Welsh international was one of the few who impressed under Wayne Rooney‘s watch. Though it seemed like Rooney’s successor, Tony Mowbray, was set for an early Birmingham City blow with James having been tipped to leave this month.
Growing reports have suggested that the midfielder is poised to join Serie A outfit Atalanta.
It was said that an agreement had been reached for James to join the Italian side, though it now seems like the move may not go through.
Atalanta could pull the plug on Jordan James transfer
Reports coming out of Italy have revealed that, whilst a deal has been agreed, Atalanta are now reconsidering whether or not to sign the Welshman.
Tutto Mercato Web say that Atalanta could pull the plug at the final hurdle given their inflated first-team squad.
Atalanta currently sit in 6th place of the Serie A table and won their last game 2-1 against AC Milan at the San Siro.
Reports have claimed that they’re set to sign James on a deal worth around £4million.

A strange report, but James surely leaves Birmingham City
If Atalanta already had an inflated first-team squad, then why have they worked so hard on a deal for James?
This latest update seems very strange indeed, but given the amount of press linking James with a move to Italy in the past week, it seems likely that James still moves on this month.
Atalanta and James are said to have reached an agreement and a transfer figure has already been revealed.
There may be some final hurdles to get over but it is surely unlikely that Atalanta pull the plug on a move for James because they now think their squad is too big.
So for Mowbray and Birmingham City, James leaving this month seems like it’s still on the cards and so the club will surely be working on signing a replacement before February 1st.
It’ll be interesting to see if James features for Birmingham City against Swansea City this weekend; Mowbray’s first game in charge of the club, with a win able to lift Blues from 20th to 18th in the table.
