Birmingham City’s interest in Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee has been played down by Birmingham Live journalist Alex Dicken.
Birmingham City look set for another busy transfer window in January.
Blues hit the summer transfer market hard, signing a number of impressive players and starting the season better than most expected.
But matters on the pitch have worsened. Wayne Rooney has had four defeats from his opening five games and now sees his side sitting in 18th place of the Championship table, having taken over from John Eustace who left the club in 6th.
The board seem desperate for the Rooney project to work out and it looks like he’ll be backed in January, should he still be in the job by then, with one player having been linked with a winter move to St Andrew’s being Wrexham man Lee.
Blues linked with prolific Lee
Son of former England man Rob Lee, Elliot has had an impressive season so far with League Two side Wrexham.
The one-time West Ham youngster made his name with Luton Town but has since prevailed with Wrexham. He scored 12 goals form midfield as the club earned promotion last season and he has 10 in 17 League Two outings so far this season.
A recent report from The Sun claimed that Blues co-owner Tom Brady would look to use his Hollywood connections with a raid on Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham for midfielder Lee.
Birmingham City’s interest in Lee clarified…

A recent report from Birmingham Live and journalist Dicken has revealed the truth on Birmingham City’s reported interest in Lee.
Dicken writes that ‘Lee isn’t currently of interest to Blues’, all but putting an end to that rumour, quickly after it was first claimed by The Sun.
But the link was certainly an interesting one.
Rooney and Birmingham City want to bring this no fear football and to do that they need players across the pitch who can score goals.
Blues have a lot of firepower this season but Rooney so far isn’t getting the most out of it and so adding a player like Lee, a goal-scoring midfielder with experience up the Football League, seemed like a shrewd move.
Rooney though may want players with more immediate quality. Lee, whilst a good player for Wrexham, may not be able to replicate his goal-scoring record in the Championship for this misfiring Blues side.
But expect more transfer rumours in the build up to January, and expect more discussion on Rooney’s future at the club if results don’t improve.
