Birmingham interested in signing promotion winning right back

Birmingham City are interested in signing Leeds United right back Cody Drameh.

According to The Athletic, Leeds are willing to let Drameh leave following their signing of Djed Spence’s from Tottenham Hotspur on loan, as he is now not part of Leeds manager Daniel Farke’s plans. Leeds also boast other options at right back like Luke Auling, so it would be hard for Drameh to break in to the side.

The Blues’ are said to be ‘pushing’ for a season-long loan deal, whilst midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion have also enquired.

A season-long loan deal would bring Drameh to the end of his contract at Leeds. So far this season he has only made two substitute appearances for the Whites.

Who is Cody Drameh and would he be a good signing?

Cody Drameh is a 21-year-old right back who can also play right midfield. He has been at Leeds since the summer of 2020 after he arrived from Fulham.

Since then he has rarely played for Leeds, but has been on two successful loan spells. He spent the second half of 21/22 on loan at Cardiff, making 22 appearances.

He then spent the second half of last season on loan at Luton Town, helping them get promotion to the Premier League for the first time via the play-offs. He made 19 appearances.

Birmingham are also reportedly looking at American international Reggie Cannon following his release from Boavista, another right back. They have also had veteran and former Burnley right back Matthew Lowton on trial too.

This could mean that Ethan Laird’s injury is worse than expected, so they have had to look at other options to replace him.
