‘Really good place’ – John Eustace on new owners impact at Birmingham

Birmingham City manager John Eustace has said that he believes that under the new owners the club are heading in the right direction.

Eustace admitted post match after their 1-1 draw with Millwall that his side have had a good start to the season, as they sit in fourth place in the Championship and remain unbeaten.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “I am pleased with the progress. It has been a lot of hard work throughout pre-season. The players coming in have all really bought into what we wanted to do. There is a lot of hard work ahead but it is a good solid start.

“The recruitment over this summer has been excellent. The new owners coming in have been magnificent and you can feel a real buzz around the city. Birmingham City is in a really good place at the moment.

“We have got to keep growing and building together and see where it takes us.”

There are many positives for Birmingham right now, and yet Eustace continues to not get carried away, knowing there is still plenty of work to do when implementing their style of play.

“We are trying to grow on the football pitch with our style of play, but it will take time as this group of players get to know each other.

“We had some good passages of play on Saturday, but the really impressive thing for me was how we stuck together in the really difficult moments.

“It will be good now to give them a bit of a break for a few days, and then we will be working hard for a few days in the week and ready to go again against Watford.”
