Birmingham City manager John Eustace has praised midfielder Ivan Sunjic for his performances since coming back into the side this season.
Sunjic spent last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Hertha Berlin, in a very unsuccessful loan spell which ended with relegation and Sunjic being left out of the squad.
His future was up in the air in pre-season but now playing in defensive midfield, Sunjic has excelled, and Eustace has hailed his performances.
“You just have to look at his performances, they have been excellent,” Eustace told Birmingham Live. “It’s something that I pride myself on, I want players to come in and improve every day and want to get better, and come in with a smile on their face.
“They all know their jobs, they do their jobs properly and we try and make it as easy as we can for them. Ivan is obviously a very good player. He hasn’t had a great time here before possibly, but I think he’s shining with his performances at the moment and I’m very pleased with him.”
Decision not down to John Eustace

Eustace did say that ultimately the decision to sign him down to a new contract is not down to him, but is up to the board.
“That side has got nothing to do with me,” Eustace added. “If he’s available to be picked then that is all I’m interested in. His performances have been very good, very solid and I know there’s more to come from Ivan as well.
“Everything else is separate to that. That’s up to the board and the owners what they want to do with Ivan. As long as he is available to be picked, I will be picking him.”
